The songs on this album are gentle and deeply personal and all are written for piano solo. They are simply constructed and delivered from an uncluttered heart.
As I grow older, I find that my mind spontaneously drifts to the past – to the memories I cherish – because they enrich my present and speak to me of possibility in the future. These images, which were once mediated by light waves striking the eyes and then given meaning by physiological patterning and mental reflection, have continually guided the creation of sound and melody in my head. I have a need to externalise these images in sound so that I can “hear” what I am telling myself – a sort of “self-therapy”.
Music, for me, is also a powerful medium of expressing to our fellow beings all the things that otherwise are left unsaid. It is in this deep sense that music is expressive of both the personal and the communal. It is a medium through which we can share, without inhibition, our saddest thoughts and our happiest feelings with others and hopefully have these acknowledged, understood and enriched.
The songs on this album come from that space between light and sound, hence its title.
The album has twelve tracks, including Dark Night, Sometimes, You and Me, The Fig Tree, Fluttering Leaves and more. Why not listen to the whole album on your favourite streaming platform 🙏.
